Sharish Monte das Estevas

Welcome to a real Portuguese Rural Tourism experience! Situated in the beautiful parish of Glória, just 7 minutes from the City of Estremoz, Sharish – Monte das Estevas is a 2.5-hectare estate with two comfortable and cosy suites operated on a bed and breakfast basis.  Both south- and west-facing, the house affords breathtaking views of Serra d’Ossa and the medieval town of Evoramonte. The view is truly sublime!  Covering an area of 35 square-metres, each suite boasts an outdoor terrace with lavish stone sofas and the most breathtaking views. The swimming pool is absolutely exquisite, set in schist and heated to between 27 and 30 degrees using solar power and a mechanical system. It is shared by all the guests, as is the large living-room with its cosy fireplace. The breakfast is served featuring a selection of regional and home-made products. It can be served outside in good weather, otherwise it is served in the “old” and charming dining-room. The whole house is fitted with heating and air-conditioning for the comfort of our guests. Tree  mares live freely in Monte das Estevas’ meadows and here we do liberty horse training.

Sunset is without doubt the house’s most celebrated and photographed added attraction, as much in winter as in summer. Its beauty is absolutely mesmerizing. Very often a bottle of sparkling wine is opened and shared by guests to savour the moment. Later, the scene changes as the Milky Way invades the night sky and shooting stars steal the limelight. Nobody is indifferent to Monte das Estevas. It’s the perfect place for resting and enjoying the best of the region. Conveniently close, Estremoz, Borba and Vila Viçosa, Évora, Elvas, Monsaraz and Spain (Badajoz airport) are located between 7 and 45 minutes of Monte das Estevas. Within a 15 km radius there’s no shortage of famous wine-makers and fantastic restaurants. 800 metres from Sharish, Serra d’Ossa is a great place for excursions by foot, bicycle, horse riding or jeep. You’ll come across things you never expected to see in the Alentejo.  Both in summer and winter, you can walk through the countryside, hike up mountains, ride a bicycle, visit the area’s most renowned wineries, follow the Marble Route, appreciate the region’s excellent cuisine, shop at local markets or simply contemplate the peace and natural beauty of the Alentejo.  We are on hand to point out the region’s highlights and to ensure that our guests receive the kind of hospitality expected from a country house of this quality.
