Outeiro Tuías – Manor House

Douro, Minho e Trás-os-Montes - Local Housing

Located between Porto and the Douro stays Outeiro Tuías – Manor House, known as Casa do Outeiro de Tuías, a 17th century manor house converted into a Local Accommodation since 2013. Owned by the Sousa Guedes family from the beginning, the House constitutes of two symmetrical wings that give body to the beautiful chapel dedicated to Nossa Senhora do Pilar that is in the center. Visiting Outeiro Tuías – Manor House is a unique and truly enriching experience.

Surrounded by vineyards, green and granite, here you will find the silence only interrupted by the songs of the most diverse species of birds and the water of the fountain that falls in front of the house. Together with the quiet and calm that the manor house provides, guests are invited, on a guided tour with the owners, to know the history and the stories that every corner of the House has to tell. All private and common spaces are designed to have the greatest comfort: coffee, tea and water always available, bathrobes made by the host, a living room with fireplace, tables and chairs outside so that guests can breathe the fresh air of the region. The house also has gardens full of seasonal flowers (ranging from the rose-colored camellia to the lively blue of the hydrangeas) and a pool with bamboo reeds that lead to an idyllic setting where you can relax on the sun loungers. In the main courtyard, guests can read under the linden trees, exchange stories or drink a glass of green wine that the hosts offer upon arrival.

But if the beauty of the space and the surrounding landscapes make Outeiro Tuias a place to visit, it is the breakfast with homemade products that invite guests to hours of conversation in a naturally implemented concept – “everyone at the table.” From the homemade cake to the croissants, passing through the diverse fresh fruit to coffee, breakfast becomes a memorable moment in a stay that has much to offer.

Outeiro Tuías – Manor House is 3 km from the center of Marco de Canaveses and 12 km from the A4 (Porto-Vila Real). With excellent road and rail access, it benefits from the proximity to Porto, which is located 55 km and 50 km from the Douro Valley, a World Heritage Site. The cities of Guimarães and Braga are also very easy to reach. The Roman city of Tongobriga is located about 2 km from the House and the church of Santa Maria de Siza Vieira about 3 km. You call also visit the Obras de Fidalgo in Vila Boa Quires, the historic city of Amarante, at a distance of about 20 km and the River Tâmega, with excellent conditions for the practice of water sports and fishing. At 15 km you have access to the beach of Bitetos where you can spend fun moments with your family or with friends while experiencing Stand Up Paddle and / or boat trips. In addition to all points of interest, it is the rich and varied gastronomy that makes Marco de Canaveses one of the ex libris of Tâmega e Sousa. You will find high quality restaurants, where you can taste the region’s wines and the typical dish of the city – the roasted lamb.

Outeiro Tuías – Manor House began its journey as a Local Accommodation in 2013. In total, it has 5 rooms that have been recently renovated. Each room is personalized, thought to the detail by the hosts who, looking for the harmony between the old and the comfort, have always maintained the original traces of the house.

The wellness of the guests, the act of providing a unique experience and outstanding memories are the priority of this Local Accommodation. Every year, several tourists from all over the world come back, bringing with them a feeling of returning to ‘home’.
