Herdade da Matinha is located in the heart of the Natural Park of the Costa Vicentina, next to the village of Cercal do Alentejo, just 15 kilometers away from the unspoiled white sand beaches of what is considered one of Europe’s most beautiful coastlines. Away from everything, yet conveniently close to everything, Matinha is the perfect remote paradise to reconnect with Nature and spend quality time with family and friends, while gathering around the table to enjoy savory homemade food and amazing wine. The atmosphere is like staying at an old family friend’s country house rather than at a hotel – this old friend being Alfredo Moreira da Silva, who bought the original four-bedroom house with no electricity or water and transformed it into what it is now. The estate now encompasses the Owners House and 35 rooms and suites distributed across four other buildings, inspired by the traditional Alentejo houses, the local farms and the agricultural barns. Matinha also features a restaurant – Mesa – where guests can enjoy a homey breakfast, a light lunch menu that changes throughout the year and a full dinner menu, that varies everyday according to the season, what the land has to offer and, of course, the chef’s inspiration. The restaurant also features gluten-free, vegan and vegetarian options. Guests at Herdade da Matinha also have access to a wellness center, a yoga hut, three swimming pools, a series of experiences from horse riding to hiking and surfing and pet friendly accommodations.
