Douro, Minho e Trás-os-Montes
Welcome to the far north of Portugal, the region where Portugal was born! With a strong vocation for rural tourism, this region is ideal for direct contact with nature, exploring, for example protected areas such as the Natural Park of Douro and the natural park of Peneda Gerês.
Douro, one of the best known areas of the region, the weather is typically warm Mediterranean and dry, suitable for the cultivation of vines.
Here the landscape is so special and engaging that UNESCO has included in its list of world heritage.
The vineyards, one of the brands in the region images are often located in field margins and still to this day are an important element in the Minho landscape.
Green wine (vinho verde) is a real Regional must, known and considered unique in the world!
The manors, farms and the people themselves gives us a very rich and genuine heritage, influenced by the isolation of some towns and villages.
The historical heritage observed in the region is due mostly to the medieval times; castles such as Numão, Marialva, Penedono and the Mateus Palace are just some evidence of the history and culture of its ancestors.
No que toca a gastronomia, e para acompanhar o tão famoso vinho do porto não deixe de provar os famosos arroz e papas de Serrabulho, as Lampreias e para sobremesa a aletria de ovos.
As far as gastronomy is concerned, and to accompany, the famously port wine, be sure to try the famous rice recipes and Papas de Serrabulho, the Lampreys and for dessert egg noodles.
